Yes women can use ZMA and it will probably be quite useful (zinc and magnesium are often deficient in women's diets) but the studies on ZMA were done using male subjects.

The original ZMA (that has been used in scientific studies) contained 30mg zinc monomethionine, 400mg magnesium aspartate and vitamin B6, so any ZMA that has these amounts of zinc, magnesium and B6 in a highly bioavailable form, will work well. There is no need to have more than this and a formula with less than this may not be as effective.
